Movement Is Not the Same as Breakthrough
During one of my meetings in Uyo, I had a conversation that has stayed with me ever since.
A lady who worked in real estate came to see me and asked a question many people are afraid to ask.
She looked at me and said,
“What is the probability that this oil you’re giving me will actually work?”
I appreciated the honesty of the question because I believe people deserve honest answers.
So I told her the truth.
I said,
“For many people here, I would estimate the probability at about fifty percent. For your particular situation, I believe it is closer to forty percent.”
She was surprised.
Naturally, she wanted to know why.
I explained that not every challenge carries the same level of resistance.
Some situations are relatively light.
Others are much heavier.
Because of that, not every intervention produces the same outcome in every case.
I also explained that different situations may require different levels of spiritual support.
In her case, I encouraged her to use what she could afford, but I also emphasized something important.
I told her that if she chose to use the oil, she needed to combine it with consistent and intentional prayer.
Otherwise, she might experience movement without seeing the breakthrough she desired.
Some time later, she shared her experience with me.
She admitted that most mornings she simply applied the oil and left for work.
Sometimes she spoke only a few brief words because she felt she didn’t have enough time to pray.
The result was almost exactly what we had discussed.
She noticed activity.
She saw signs that things were shifting.
But the major breakthrough she was hoping for never fully materialized.
That conversation reminded me of an important principle.
When people pursue change through spiritual means, several factors often work together.
I often describe it this way:
Manifestation = Power × Timing × Environment
If any one of those factors is missing, the outcome will be affected.
Many people focus on increasing only one part of the equation.
They pray more.
They fast more.
They give more.
Those things are valuable.
But sometimes the real challenge lies somewhere else.
Sometimes the timing is not right.
Sometimes the environment needs to change.
Sometimes the level of resistance requires greater spiritual weight than the person is presently carrying.
This is one reason two sincere people can pray about similar situations and experience completely different outcomes.
It is not necessarily because God loves one more than the other.
Different situations often require different responses.
Some doors open after a simple knock.
Some require the right key.
Others require greater authority before they move.
That is why wisdom is just as important as passion.
Discernment is just as important as persistence.
And understanding the nature of a battle is often just as important as the intensity with which you fight it.
Not every delay has the same cause.
And not every solution looks exactly the same.
Sometimes the difference between movement and breakthrough is not that you need to try harder.
It is that you need to understand what the situation truly requires.
